what we do

Loam specialises in creating healthy and nutritious dishes that taste great and look beautiful. We develop nourishing and satisfying meals designed to leave you feeling nurtured and energised

We prioritise sourcing all of our produce as locally and seasonally as possible. Our meat, and eggs are always free-range and we’re proud to use locally caught fish and locally reared meat, ensuring that every dish is made from scratch with care.

We also endeavour to use our local farms and growers as much as possible, who supply us with such produce as organic salad leaves, dairy and local eggs.

We also create our own vinegars, chutneys, and kimchi—and the list is always growing!

We're passionate about bringing together simple, fresh, seasonal ingredients to create beautiful food which makes your heart sing.

HOW WE WORK

We believe that food should always be celebrated as an integral part of life. We specialise in creating dishes perfect for sharing and celebration. Our offerings range from generous platters designed for family-style feasting to individually portioned boxes ideal for photoshoots or team meals on the go, and everything in between.

WHO WE ARE

Loam was founded in 2014 by Sophie Ridding, who transitioned from a career as a set designer for clients like British & American Vogue. Her inspiration for Loam came from years of experiencing carb-heavy on-set catering that often overlooked the impact on well-being. Recognising the importance of balanced nutrition in a demanding work environment, coupled with her passion for cooking, she researched and developed a healthier catering approach, leading to the creation of Loam.

OUR STORY

Sophie’s interest in food and well-being deepened following her diagnosis with psoriasis at age 15. Dissatisfied with the prognosis that the condition was incurable and manageable only with strong medication, Sophie explored the role of nutrition in healing. Through this journey, she not only cured herself but also gained extensive nutritional knowledge. This personal experience fuels her commitment to cooking meals that offer genuine health benefits and enhance overall well-being.

We specialise in cooking on location and have a travelling kitchen set up. As long as we have access to water and electricity, we can cook anywhere. We also deliver to locations all over the UK, from all over Sussex to London and beyond.

Loam are based on the Sussex coast just outside Brighton, in Shoreham-By-Sea.

Loam is available for any catering request, shoot or gathering.
